The perfect home screen for your personality

We wrote about how you can make a pleasant-looking phone from the outside with a nice cover to the inside with a stunning wallpaper. But did you know that you can make a 10x more attractive phone by doing something as simple as organizing the home screen on the device, and choosing the right style on the icons that matches your personality. In this week’s blog, we are diving deeper into the art of organizing on a phone so that you can get the most out of the aesthetics and make it stand out from the crowd.

Minimalist setup

Today phones are like a peace of clothing to us, it is something that we carry around with us all day long, so we need to make sure we take care of it both when it comes to the performance and the look of it. Most people when buying a new phone would just start using it just the way it is out of the box. The only thing they do is reorder the icons of the apps, so that they have the apps they use most easily accessible. If you have a one-color neutral wallpaper, it is very easy to reorder the apps because there is not much wallpaper to consider, but if you have a nice-looking wallpaper that you want to be visible, you can only use few app icons and combined them with some widgets. Widgets are a second version of an icon, which on some phones, can be adjusted in opacity. This way you can have a nice useful home screen without to compromise the sight of the wallpaper.

Icons and widgets

Another thing you can do is to have only 3 or 4 icons on the bottom of the home screen and then use 2 widgets, that serves as a shortcut to apps that are also important to you, on the top of the screen. This way you can easily reach the icons you need on the bottom and still have a good sight for the wallpaper in the middle, while small widgets on the top gets the rest of the job done. Many smartphone companies offer a customizable solution both for the icons and the widgets, which can allow you to enhance the visibility of the wallpaper in the back and make the home screen more appealing overall. On android devices you have the option to set a grid layout, which means you can choose how many icons you can have on the home screen and therefore how big they are. For example you can have layout that is 4×6, which allows you to have 6 icons vertically and 4 horizontally, but you can change this to for instance 4×7 or 5×7, depending on the screen size. This gives your home screen a whole different look, and full flexibility to adjust the sight of your wallpaper.

Icon folders

A feature that we think is very underrated nowadays is the use of icon folders. Folders gives you the ability to have many icons in one, and if used correctly you can have a very clean home screen. Technically you only need 4 folders to have all your apps from the device available from the home screen, and the rest of the screen can be decorated with few widgets that fulfils your needs.

Overall when it comes to creating a very clean and functional home screen it is important to think simple, you have to consider what is most important to yourself and how can you make your life easier when using your phone.
